As Artbox, one of Bangkok’s most trendy creative markets, comes back to Singapore this year, enthusiastic visitors also return, generating a popular success, both along the Bay and online.

Crowd Analytics Reveal Favourite Areas

Combining food stalls, creative retailer shops and live concerts, the free pop-up event invited visitors to take over Marina Bay from Friday, May 25th to Sunday 27th.

Partner of the event since 2017, DFRC deployed four passive LBASense mobile-phone detecting sensors, covering different zones of Bayfront to monitor the crowd during this first weekend of the creative market.

Crowd Analytics data show that the most popular day to visit Artbox was Sunday, May 27th at 18:00, with the most frequented area being around the main entrance (green line on the graph above). The “Gryphon Tea” zone was also the most popular on Friday and Saturday (yellow line on the graph above).

Maybe a sign that the food and drink stalls and shops were best in line with the crowd’s expectations, the “Main Stage” (red line in the graph above) and the “Activity Area” (orange line in the graph above) were the less popular zones of the event during the three analysed days.

Indeed, when looking at the Crowd Analytics “Path” module for Sunday May 27th at 15:00, at the opening of the event’s doors, we can see that from the Main Entrance (sensor 4 on the LBASense Dashboard map, also marked as “out”) most visitors are detected at that time around the Gryphon Tea area (sensor 3).

Social Media Engagement

Aesthetic and photogenic, Artbox was also the star of the social media.

Based on the analysis of several key hashtags used on Instagram and Twitter from May 25th to May 30th, results show that over 370 persons talked about Artbox, generating 564 posts and 100,000 impressions.

Inspiring and engaging, Instagrammer Jonathan Paul generated almost 2,500 reactions with a single post.

While the three first posts (sorted out by engagement impressions) describe Artbox in an enthusiastic yet generic way, the fourth top post is focusing more specifically on food and beverage.

Indeed, as shown previously by the Crowd Analytics results and also by the social media analysis, a solid hypothesis emerges: Artbox has been highly appreciated by foodie lovers, both online and in the event’s space occupation. Such information can be very useful for brand positioning and advertising, notably when preparing next year’s event.
