Smart City Use Case – Liverpool Public Transportation Monitoring

Project Goal

Liverpool, November 2015: in partnership with the Liverpool based company Red Ninja and the local public transportation company, Merseytravel, the goal of the project was to count the number of people at and around bus stops and underground stations, to support investment in urban mobility.

Key findings

Visitor moving between the main transport hub and the test locations were extremely numerous, i.e. more than 90%. Comparing citizens’ real activity with the offer of public transportation has helped analyse the soundness of the current public transportation routes according to the needs of the inhabitants.

These results are also powerful tools for investors who can choose to implant their business in the most attractive neighbourhood according to real-time data.
